Annotated Soap Note Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Annotated Soap Note - Assignment Example Social history: She denies taking alcohol or drugs but admits to smoking at least two cigarettes daily. She lives a very active life where she does a lot of walking activities. Her diet consists of high calories, fat, fruits, and vegetables. From the information gathered, the patient is likely suffering from bladder infection. Flank pain is associated with renal and upper urinary tract illnesses. In addition, the pain is a sign of underlying illness which in this case is bladder infection (Lippincott & Wilkins, 2008). The illness is diagnosed through a clean-catch mid-stream urine stream specimen to perform culture and determine the presence of bacteria. Concentration that is more than 100,000 organisms per ml of urine rules out the diagnoses (Murray & Pizzorno, 2012). The culture is repeated after seven to fourteen days after therapy to check if it has cleared (Schapiro, 2014). The treatment will include Norfloxacin (Noroxin) 400mg BID for three days (Tripathi, 2013). In addition, the patient is prescribed 100mg calcium C four times daily. It aids in making the urine more acidic that makes it unfavorable for bacterial growth. The best management of bladder infections is preventing the bacterial growth. To attain this, the patient is educated on how to limit the development of bacteria. It includes urinating completely and frequently. In addition, she should avoid keeping urine in the bladder for a long time. Moreover, she is advised on hygiene tips especially how to clean herself after bowel movement. She should perform it from front to back. Furthermore, she should avoid underwear that is from synthetic fabrics that has the tendency of confining moisture. She will be trained on the significance of taking sufficient fluid that is mostly six to ei ght glasses daily, as it eliminates toxins from the bladder (Schapiro, 2014). The patient is also

Coronary Heart Disease Essay Example for Free
Coronary Heart Disease Essay Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death in the United States. There are many types of heart diseases that fall into this title. Two of the most popular forms of cardiovascular diseases are heart attack and stroke. The increasing amount of exposure of known risk factors for these diseases to young adults is why I feel it is necessary to promote what it takes to lead a heart healthy lifestyle in order to avoid becoming another statistic. I feel as though I did not choose this topic as much as it chose me, as 2 years ago my Father was hospitalized and underwent a Quadruple Heart By-pass surgery in order to remove the blood clots in his 4 main arteries. Knowing that this disease is partly hereditary I feel as though it is important to educate myself and others with early intervention steps that could keep you from being affected by any heart diseases. In my research I plan to introduce how heart diseases are caused and also the best prevention techniques to ensure that the number of people affected by Coronary Heart Diseases, specifically Heart Attacks, is falling each year instead of climbing. In my research I came across an article provided by the ProQuest Research Library entitled ââ¬Å"Coronary Heart Disease: Primary and Secondary Preventionâ⬠. This article is a published study done by The College of Pharmacy and Drug Topics of the University of Florida and discusses the many ââ¬Å"doââ¬â¢sâ⬠and ââ¬Å"donââ¬â¢tsâ⬠in order to lead a heart healthy life. The focus of this article is to prevent your body to become a future hot spot for a heart disease. The article counters these risk factors with ways to prevent the ââ¬Å"modifiable factorsâ⬠from occurring. The article states that risk factors are classified as modifiable or non-modifiable. ââ¬Å"Non-modifiable risk factors include age, family history, and gender. Modifiable risk factors include smoking, diet, obesity, physical inactivity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndromeâ⬠(Brenner, Michael, and Allison Butcher). Most of these factors are obvious but some may be less known. Hypertension is the occurrence of high-blood pressure in your body, while dyslipidemia is the occurrence of high cholesterol. Diabetes mellitus can increase the risk of developing a heart disease by 2 to 4 times as likely. A second article I found through ProQuest was the scholarly journal provided by The New England Journal of Medicine titles ââ¬Å"Cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention of coronary heart diseaseâ⬠. This article provides a more detailed look into some prevention techniques used in order to stay healthy in both the physical sense, but in the long term heart health. An idea that this article brought the table was the ââ¬Å"Prescription of Exerciseâ⬠. ââ¬Å"Preliminary data suggest that a regimen of low-intensity, prolonged, daily exercise, called ââ¬Å"high-caloric trainingâ⬠because it maximizes the expenditure of calories, results in greater fat loss and greater modification of risk factors than does a regimen of more intense but briefer exercise sessions.â⬠(Ades, Philip A) As mentioned in the statement, maximizing the length of time that you are exercising maximizes the fat/calories being burned in your work-out. This in the long run brings my researc h back to the facts stated in my first source, which states that improving the modifiable factors like obesity and physical inactivity can greatly reduce your risk if developing a heart disease. A third article that I found through the ProQuest Research Library was a scholarly journal published by the British Medical Journal entitled ââ¬Å"Triggering a heart attackâ⬠. This article allowed me to shine a different light on my research as it discusses momentary impacts on your heart. This article was done in response to numerous news headlines that involved fatalities due to unexpected heart attacks and strokes during a physically and/or emotionally strenuous activity. This study focused on activities like jogging, shoveling snow, and swimming that have been commonly lead to cardiac death due to vigorous physical effort. This idea relates very similarly to that of the ââ¬Å"Prescription of Exerciseâ⬠idea stated in my other source. The relation between the two stems from the idea of the less beneficial short and strenuous activities and exercise in correlation to the recommended longer low-intensity activities and exercise. This article is proving that not only are the more strenuous and shorter periods of activity less beneficial, but they can also become fatal when asking the body to do too much. Coronary Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in The United States which is why I believe that it is crucial to educate others about the many risks that factor into such a group of fatal diseases in the heart. Thru ought my research I learned that it is often the less suspecting individual that can become a victim of a Coronary Heart Disease simply because he/she did not know what steps to take to lead a heart healthy lifestyle. In order to stop the constantly rising number of fatalities caused by heart disease, we must first become educated on how to prevent them from occurring in the first place. Just In Time :: essays research papers
Collaborate or Perish! The just-in-time supply modelââ¬âan absolute requirement for e-commerce fulfillmentââ¬âcalls for closer collaboration with suppliers and partners than ever Today's corporations do not rely simply on brand loyalty. The sale now goes to companies that can implement a ââ¬Å"just-in-timeâ⬠business practice by quickly providing customized products. To do so, your organization can no longer be hierarchical. Instead, it must have an open-minded management team that can channel the necessary resources to meet demand. Consumer demand for customized products and services delivered quickly has forced retail outlets into a ââ¬Å"We won't make it until you order itâ⬠mentality. What's more important, retailers are telling their suppliers, ââ¬Å"We won't ask you to make it until our customers order it.â⬠Consequently, recognizing and responding to customer demand must be instantaneous. Both vendors and suppliers require the ability to transfer information at fiber-optic speed across their distribution channel. However, speed is just one factor. Successful product management and distribution requires synchronization with suppliers at the fastest speed possible, creating a collaborative relationship with all suppliers down the chain. Your organization can no longer afford an ââ¬Å"us vs. themâ⬠mentality with your suppliersââ¬âit must be ââ¬Å"we.â⬠Previously, the business model assumed that inventory existed or was in the manufacturing process, that is, ââ¬Å"available to promiseâ⬠(ATP). Today, executing the just-in-time model requires a ââ¬Å"capable to promiseâ⬠(CTP) value stream. In this article, I'll examine how your business can implement a CTP value stream and how doing so will affect relationships with suppliers. I'll also discuss the technology that is necessary to implement the just-in-time model internally as well as with multiple suppliers across the supply chain. Capable to Promise The ATP and CTP dates are extremely important, in that companies want to tell customers when they will receive their products. ATP is based on the premise that your company has a finished-goods inventory that contains fairly standard products. Companies build an inventory of products to sell, and perform an ATP calculation, providing the date for product delivery. A finished-goods inventory ensures that when the customer calls and says, ââ¬Å"I'm looking to buy a car battery,â⬠you have a standard supply of batteries ready for delivery. ATP also applies to goods that are in the production process. For example, your company may be in a situation where it does not immediately have the product in the finished-goods inventory, but is near enough to completion that it can guarantee delivery within a well-defined timeframe.

Patroklos is not very important to the Iliada Essay
Patroklos is introduced as the companion of Achilleus ââ¬â the great warrior ââ¬â which automatically makes him significant to the poem as a whole. His relationship with Achilleus is first shown in book 9 where Patroklos obeys everything Achilleus asks him to do and is names as ââ¬Ëhis companion Patroklosââ¬â¢. This shows they have a good relationship which is important as it shows the audience another side of Achilleus, one where he is loving and caring and human enough to crave the company of a close friend. However the menial tasks Patroklos is first asked to perform could have been undertaken by any common slave and therefore in this scene he does not come across as particularly important to the poem. This close relationship is emphasized a number of times throughout the poem, in particular when Achilleus ââ¬Ëgave a silent signal to Patroklos with his eyebrowsââ¬â¢ which would indicate that their relationship is such that Patroklos understands what Achilleus wants him to do through facial expression alone. Moreover, in book 11, Patroklos is referred to as the ââ¬Ëpleasure of my heartââ¬â¢ by Achilleus, suggesting that their relationship is deeper than just friends. Patroklosââ¬â¢s role in Achilleusââ¬â¢s life is explained in part by Nestor who speaks of the advice given to Patroklos by his father ââ¬Ëby birth Achilleus is superior to you, but you are the older. He is far stronger than you, but your proper task is to give him words of wisdom and advise him and guide him ââ¬â and he will listen to you for the best. ââ¬â¢ This indicates that Patroklos has throughout his life influenced Achilleus and continues to do so, meaning he is crucial in understanding Achilleusââ¬â¢s character. Nearing the end of book 11, Patroklos cuts an arrow from Eurypylos thigh and stops the bleeding which shows he is compassionate and endears him to the audience which may be a device employed by Homer to emphasize the sadness of Patroklosââ¬â¢s death later in the poem. This scene is also used to show the brutal effects of war due to its gory nature. After book 16 Patroklos comes to the forefront of the poem. Achilleus instructs him to don his armour and push the battle from their ships. Achilleus once again shows his feelings for Patroklos as he prays to Zeus that he will come back safely. Zeus does not grant this, foretelling Patroklosââ¬â¢s death. During this book, Patroklos has his aristeia which adds excitement and impact to the poem. Patroklosââ¬â¢s fighting lasts for many pages and is a significant part of the poem, showing his importance overall. Patroklosââ¬â¢s fight with Sarpedon is important as Zeus becomes upset over the death of his son and although he allows the Achaians to take his armour, he ensures the body is well looked after ââ¬â showing a loving side of Zeus that is not often seen during the poem. Without Patroklos this scene would not have been able to take place. Patroklosââ¬â¢s death is told over many lines and begins with Euphorbus stabbing him in the back as he is too scared to face him in battle. This shows once again how brave and important Patroklos is. The passage describing Hektor killing Patroklos is very descriptive and includes mockery from Hektor and Patroklosââ¬â¢s final speech. This once more makes the audience feel for Patroklos as he is cruelly mocked in the last moments of his life. The next book is entirely dedicated to the fight over Patroklosââ¬â¢s body which indicates that he was important and a large part of the poem. There are also many men willing to defend Patroklos which shows he was well loved ââ¬ËI would gladly stand by Patroklos and defend him, since his death has touched right to my heartââ¬â¢. At the beginning of book 18 Achilleus learns of the death of Patroklos ââ¬Ëand the black cloud of sorrow enveloped Achilleusâ⬠¦he lay there with his whole body sprawling in the dust, huge and hugely fallen, tearing at his hair and defiling it with his own handsââ¬â¢, this passage shows how much Achilleus cared for his friend, he is so overwhelmed with sorrow that he is unable to speak. Even the serving women ââ¬Ëshrieked loud in their heartsââ¬â¢ griefââ¬â¢, enabling the audience to understand that he was loved by all, emphasizing the pain of his death. Furthermore, Patroklosââ¬â¢s death makes Achilleus feel guilty ââ¬Ëlet me die directly, since I was not able to help my friend at his killingââ¬â¢ and spurs him to fight once more. The sensitive side of Achilleus is bought out again during this ââ¬Ëhis warm tears falling when he saw his trusted friend lying thereââ¬â¢. Patroklosââ¬â¢s death is the catalyst needed to make Achilleus rekindle his fighting spirit ââ¬Ëbut now Patroklosâ⬠¦I shall not give you burial until I have bought hereâ⬠¦the head of Hektor. ââ¬â¢ Which shows that without Patroklos Achilleus would not have fought again, meaning he is catalytic in this part of the Iliad. Finally it is made clear that Patroklos was instrumental in Achilleusââ¬â¢s attachment to Briseis. ââ¬ËYou were always gentle. ââ¬â¢ Briseis explains that Patroklos was the one who arranged for her to marry Achilleus, and since this all began because Briseis was taken away this shows that without Patroklosââ¬â¢s intervention Achilleus would not have been so angry in the first place and would not have refused to fight, making the Iliad into a very different story. Therefore, Patroklos was key in shaping the poem into the story it became.

Investigate how a major event can influence the hospitality, travel and tourism industry Essay
Executive Summary Within this report it outlines how a major event can influence the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. It will go into great detail about the chosen event and how this particular event impacted these industries, with topics such as what an event is, the chosen event in detail, and how this event impacted these industries. Table of Contents I. Methodology II. Introduction III. Findings IV. Conclusion V. References VI. Appendices VII. Bibliography Methodology After already establishing the basis of the theoretical view of this report, it is now required to reflect on how the evidence will be composed to support the theory and research within this report. There are a number of ways in which this research will be collected. Firstly it will be important to establish what an actual event is as well as definitions of the terms hospitality, travel and tourism. This can be done through secondary sources such as books e. g. Allen, Oââ¬â¢Toole et al 2011, websites and newspapers. The chosen event will then show how it has impacted the hospitality, travel and tourism industries in Belfast as well as how the Northern Ireland Tourism Board had this planned as part of Northern Irelandââ¬â¢s preparation of making Northern Ireland a huge tourist destination. Introduction The subject matter of this report is too educate how a major event can influence the hospitality, travel and tourism industries, looking a single event in particular, so that the impacts are more in a personal tone rather than generalising to looking into events as a whole. Definitions will be given of what an event, hospitality, travel and tourism actually are. Topics will include information on the chosen event that will be discussed in greater detail, Belfast as a tourist destination, important impacts on the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. Benefits of a major event within a city. How a major event can impact on a city or destination improvements, and a brief incite into Northern Irelandââ¬â¢s Tourist Boardââ¬â¢s plan for Northern Ireland to become a huge and popular tourist destination in the future. Investigate how a major event can influence the hospitality, travel and tourism industry. For this report I have chosen to research and ââ¬ËInvestigate how a major event can influence the hospitality, travel and tourism industry. ââ¬â¢ The event in which I aim on investigating is the opening if the Titanic Signature Building. This report will explain in detail how the opening of the Titanic Signature Building influenced the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. Within this report you will be introduced to the main question of this report. Topics will include talking about the building itself, its visitor numbers, Belfast as a tourism destination, the impacts the building had on Belfastââ¬â¢s hospitality, travel & tourism industry. ââ¬Å"The hospitality and tourism industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry with 700 million international travellers per year around the world,â⬠said Zainal (2012) in his book, ââ¬ËCurrent Issues in Hospitality and Tourism: Research and Innovations. ââ¬â¢ According to the oxford dictionary the exact definitions of what an event, hospitality and tourism actually are. ââ¬Å"An event is described as a thing that happens or takes place, especially one of importance, a planned public or social occasion. â⬠ââ¬Å"Hospitality is the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors or strangers. â⬠And the definition of tourism is the ââ¬Å"temporary movement of people to destinations outside their normal places of work and residence, the activity undertaken during the stay in those destinations, and the facilities created to cater for their needs. â⬠According to Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) the Northern Ireland vision is, ââ¬ËTo create the new Northern Ireland experience and get it on everyoneââ¬â¢s destination wish list. ââ¬â¢ As the well-known slogan for Northern Ireland 2012 was that ââ¬Å"Northern Ireland 2012 is our time, our placeâ⬠This means that NITB have stated that they think Northern Ireland is a rising tourist destination. And that Northern Ireland is trying to offer a unique way to be involved and to celebrate. And we as a city need to take our story to a wider audience. So as part of this transaction to take ââ¬Ëour storyââ¬â¢ to a wider audience, the Titanic signature building project started. Shone and Parry (2010) said that ââ¬Å"for a town or city wishing to become a tourist destination, elements such as attractions, accommodation, transport, infrastructure and facilities must be present. â⬠Belfast has been in the middle of this process over the past few years, and especially as 2012 was meant to be ââ¬Ëour time, our placeââ¬â¢ Belfast certainly lived up to this. And a huge part was the titanic signature building. The Titanic Signature building is the worldââ¬â¢s largest Titanic visitor attraction & 400,000 visitors were expected to visit the building per annum & 900,000 per annum footfall through the building. Within the first 6 months, 500,000 people had already visited Titanic Belfast. ââ¬Å"One of the most important impacts is the tourism revenue generated by an event. In addition to their spending at the event, external visitors are likely to spend on travel, accommodation, and goods and services in the host city. Titanic Belfast was part of NITBââ¬â¢s plan to attract visitors to Belfast and Northern Ireland with a consequent increase in revenue, which will generate jobs and income. Based on projected visitor numbers its one off the most expensive buildings of its kind in Europe. It cost ? 77million to construct, with most of the funding (? 60million) coming from the publicââ¬â¢s wallet. Mike Smith, the chief executive of the building said that, ââ¬Å"We think the building is good value for money. â⬠The opening of the Titanic Belfast produced instant employment benefits as it was estimated that 200 people would be needed to work in the building. The projected increase in visitor numbers, from within the UK and Ireland as well as internationally, will lead to a corresponding demand for local hotels and services, therefore generating job opportunities in the construction and hospitality sectors. Allen, Oââ¬â¢Toole et al 2011, talked about how a major event has potential to bring ââ¬Ënew moneyââ¬â¢ into Belfast from outside visitors. ââ¬Å"The role event tourism is required to play in a destinationââ¬â¢s tourism development efforts will vary according to the overall tourism strategy that is being pursued. â⬠(Allen, Oââ¬â¢Toole et al 2011) Belfast is now a popular short-break destination and one of Europeââ¬â¢s top visitor destinations. In 2006, Belfast had 6. 8 million tourists compared to 2011 when we had 7. 86 million tourists. There was quite a number if impacts the opening of Titanic Belfast had on tourism on not only Belfast but Northern Ireland as a whole. The Titanic Signature building is located only 5 minutes from the city centre, so therefore this increasingly popular tourism attraction is not difficult to travel to, there are buses to the Titanic Quarter every 10-15 minutes from the City Centre. It is also within walking distance. The city centre is always crowded with tourist companies who are there to promote tours of the city, these tours run every day and very frequently, they seem to be every popular and since the opening of the Titanic Signature Building, a new tour opened up that was solely about the Titanic alone and itââ¬â¢s attractions. ââ¬Å"Events add to the range of experiences a destination can offer, and this then adds to its capacity to attract and hold visitors for longer periods of time. â⬠(Getz and Wicks 1994) Since the opening of the Titanic Building, this saw Belfastââ¬â¢s biggest jump in hotel occupancy in March 2012 in nearly a decade and a 12% year on year hike in revenues. Then in April saw the year on year occupancy in Belfastââ¬â¢s leading hotels increase by 25%, the average is usually are 15% over April 2011. Belfastââ¬â¢s PWC partner Stephen Curragh said, ââ¬Å"Overall, 2012 has been a successful year for Belfast hotels thus far, but it is off a very low base and will require sustained visitor numbers to bring Belfast back to pre-downturn levels of profitability. â⬠Allen, Oââ¬â¢Toole et al (2011) said that events can also provide a significant spur to both public and private investment in a destination. Large scale events can play in destination renewal and in the later development of a destinationââ¬â¢s attractiveness and capacity as a tourist destination. NITB have identified excellent events and business tourism as two of their winning themes with the potential to deliver competitive advantages for Northern Ireland as part of their tourism Strategic Framework for Action 2004-2007. NITB said, ââ¬Å"Note for the Excellent Events theme, research confirms that events are an effective tool for changing perceptions and attracting visitors. â⬠Opportunity 2012 2013 2014 2015 Total Additional Visitors 150,00 333,000 200,000 150,000 833,00 Additional Revenue ?24 million ?52 million ?34 million ?30 million ?140 million Created Jobs 612 1,326 867 765 3,570 This table, which can be found on NITBââ¬â¢s 2012 guide, shows NITBââ¬â¢s goal for the future, which is to increase tourism spend to ? 1 million by 2020 and to increase visitor numbers to 4. 5 million by 2020 It shows NITBââ¬â¢s plan in more detail. In 2013 their plan is at its peak by expecting to have 333,000 additional visitors into Northern Ireland which will then create 52 million additional revenue and will generate 1,326 extra jobs in Northern Ireland. Events can affect the hospitality, travel ; tourism industries in many ways. In Belfast due to the opening of the titanic building we have shown you that there has been quite a high incline in Belfast as a tourist destination. Overall we found that the Titanic Building has had an positive impact on hospitality and tourism in Belfast. ââ¬Å"2012 is about changing global perceptions and trying to get tourists to come to Northern Ireland,â⬠ââ¬â Arlene Foster.

Polanskis Interpretations of Shakespeares Macbeth Essays
Polanskis Interpretations of Shakespeares Macbeth Essays Polanskis Interpretations of Shakespeares Macbeth Paper Polanskis Interpretations of Shakespeares Macbeth Paper Essay Topic: Macbeth Polanskis film version of Macbeth is interesting when studied closely. It contains a lot of references to themes in the play, but also illustrates Polanskis own interpretation of the play. Polanski made a few noticeable changes when converting text to film, with some scenes being added to the film and others being left out of the film version. I will attempt to demonstrate the ideas and thoughts behind this particular version of Macbeth and in doing so I hope to intensify my own viewing experience. A good way of improving a films effect is to analyse the different scenes and find some hidden interpretations and effects. The film begins with a scene that was not in the original text, but was added by Polanski. It starts with a hazy, foggy beach, and we can hear the waves against the shore, giving us an idea of the surroundings. The witches slowly appear from this fog as the camera pans out. Once they reach the foreground, they begin to dig a hole in the sand. Once the hole is complete, they place in it a severed forearm clutching a dagger, along with a hangmans noose. The severed hand has many opportunities for interpretations, but it seems to symbolise murder more than anything else. The dagger itself is a tool for murder, and the arm is gruesomely detached from its owner, so is, in a way, connected with murder. The hangmans noose is another murder tool but also carries with it the theme of justice, as it was used as a form of punishment. Then, the witches pour blood over the murder ensemble as if to complete a spell. After filling the hole, they fade out in to the background, much the same way as their entrance. The use of blood so early on in the play is intriguing, as this image recurs a lot throughout Shakespeares text version. The witches appearance is anything but glamorous. There are three, each seeming to differ in age. There is the younger one, a more middle-aged one and the last seems to be an old crone. The witches clothes are made of rags, leading us to believe that they are not associated with normal society. After this added scene, the film moves on to the battle report, and following that, we see Macbeth on the Scottish moors. This is the stage in the text where he meets the witches for the first time. The scene in the film is accompanied by a depressing bagpipe tune which places an uncertainty in to the viewers mind. The first soliloquy of the film is shown as a close-up of Macbeth. The speech is presented as a voiceover. I think Polanski uses this method of presenting the soliloquy because it shows that Macbeth is actually thinking the words and not saying them. This is not the case in most stage productions as voiceovers are difficult in front of a live audience. This method enhances the atmosphere of the play and makes it seem more realistic. Going back to the subject of the witches, Macbeth meets them again in Act IV, but extra witches have been added to the scene. This makes the whole thing seem like some sort of ceremony or celebration. One interesting aspect of this scene is that none of the witches are wearing clothes. They are all completely naked. This portrays a sense of poverty, but also puts across the theme of the super-natural. When Macbeth arrives at this congregation of witches, they are concocting a potion, which he duly drinks. This leads to the visions of apparitions, the eight kings. As Macbeth sinks into a dream world, the camera spins around him in a wild fashion, making it look like Macbeth is extremely dizzy. This nudity is also shown by Lady Macbeth when she goes mad, which may mean that Polanski saw Lady Macbeth as being linked with the witches somehow. Also, Lady Macbeth tends to speak of evil throughout the text. The film, of course, is full of supernatural references. It both begins and ends with witches (which are both scenes added by Polanski). There are also many other references to the supernatural elements, which include the apparitions that appear before Macbeth, and the Ghost of Banquo that appears in the banquet scene. The banquet scene is done very well in the play, especially with the appearance of Banquos Ghost. The audience can see the ghost, as can Macbeth, but the guests sitting around the table act innocent. The audience then feels the same perplexity as Macbeth, and the truth is only exposed as Macbeth realises the truth. When Macbeth gets a closer look at the Ghost of Banquo, the camera also pans in for a close up. The audience gets a chance to witness the brutality of Banquos injuries, and this intensifies the atmosphere of the scene. Macbeth now realises that it is in fact a ghost that stands before him. His reaction to this information is brilliantly shown, and makes the scene look much more realistic. One scene I thought was shown inadequately was the soliloquy scene in which Macbeth decides to assassinate Duncan. The dagger involved in this scene (Macbeth visualises a dagger and this then influences his decision to kill Duncan) is extremely poorly portrayed. Even though the film was made in 1971, the technology used to generate the dagger was dreadfully utilised. The scene would have looked much better had it not contained a dagger at all. If Macbeth had pretended to see a dagger (which the audience would not see) then the tension would have been increased. The scene would have a peculiar and eerie appearance to it as Macbeth seems to be interacting with thin air. The audience would soon recognize that there is actually a dagger in Macbeths mind and once this is realised, Macbeth would have decided to kill Duncan. This would have made the scene a lot better, compared to the superimposed dagger that was originally used. In my opinion, I think Polanskis film version of Macbeth is very well produced. It has its faults, which can be more or less put down to the available technology. The supernatural effects in the film are shown in a way that captivates the audience and increases the atmosphere of the play. His version, as a conversion from the text, is brilliant in its content. He brings in nearly all of the scenes from the text, and adds more of his own, to great effect.

How Inverters and Converters Work in Hybrids and Electric Vehicles
How Inverters and Converters Work in Hybrids and Electric Vehicles In a hybrid and other electric vehicles (EVs), two key elements work together to manage power and recharge the circuits. Here is how these critical components- the inverter and converter- work in tandem.à The Function of an Inverter Broadly speaking, an inverterà is an electrical device that converts electricity derived from a DC (Direct Current) source to AC (Alternating Current) of the type that can beà used to drive a device or appliance. In a solar power system, for example, the power stored by batteries charged by solar panels is converted to standard AC power by the inverter, which provides the power to plug-in outlets and other standard 120-volt devices.à An inverter serves the same kind of function in a hybrid or EV car, and the theory of operation is relatively simple. DC power, from a hybrid battery, for example, is fed to the primary winding in a transformer within the inverter housing. Through an electronic switch (generally a set of semiconductor transistors), the direction of the flow of current is continuously and regularly flip-flopped (the electrical charge travels into the primary winding, then abruptly reverses and flows back out). The in/outflow of electricity produces AC current in the transformers secondary winding circuit. Ultimately, this induced alternating current electricity provides power for an AC load- for example, an electric vehicles (EV) electric traction motor. A rectifier is a similar device to an inverter except that it does the opposite, converting AC power to DC power. The Function of a Converter More properly called a voltage converter, this electrical device actually changes the voltage (either AC or DC) of an electrical power source. There are two types of voltage converters: step up converters (which increases voltage) and step downà converters (which decreases voltage). The most common use of a converter is to a take relatively low voltage source and step-it-up to high voltage for heavy-duty work in a high power consumption load, but they can also be used in reverse to reduce voltage for a light load source. Inverter/Converter Tandem Units An inverter/converter is, as the name implies, one single unit that houses both an inverter and a converter. These are the devices that are used by both EVs and hybrids to manage their electric drive systems. Along with a built-in charge controller, the inverter/converter supplies current to the battery pack for recharging during regenerative braking, and it also provides electricity to the motor/generator for vehicle propulsion. Both hybrids and EVs use relatively low-voltage DC batteries (about 210 volts)à to keep the physical size down, but they also generally use highly efficient high voltage (about 650 volts) AC motor/generators. The inverter/converter unit choreographs how these divergent voltages and current types work together. Because of the use of transformers and semiconductors (and the accompanying resistance encountered), enormous amounts of heat are emitted by these devices. Adequate cooling and ventilation are paramount to keeping the components operational. For this reason,à inverter/converter installations in hybrid vehicles have their own dedicated cooling systems, completeà with pumps and radiators, that are entirely independent of the engines cooling system.
